Real Walker Robot for Kids

Imagine your kids getting ahold of one of these for Halloween. Created by the Sakakibara-kikai corp of Japan. This is a new smaller "kid friendly" version of the full-size landwalker robot the company developed . Pretty cool stuff from a company that usually produces feed sweepers. Check out the video below, you'll also get a peek at the larger version in the background.

A child can climb into the pilot seat and operate the machine by themselves  The robot includes some fail safe functionallity to limit the the walking motion to restrict it a shuffling motion rather then taking large steps.  The Kid's gas powered Walker is 5 1/4 feet tall and weighs around 400 lbs which is around half the size of the full size  Land Walker.  The controls are operated right from the seat. You can actually rent this thing apparently.  They are not selling them as of yet, but the company estimates that the unit woud cost around $21,000 U.S to produce.

The Return of the Darth Vader Project

Last year we tweeted about the Vader Project which gave artists a chance to re-imagine a full scale replica of Darth Vader's infamous black helmet. The show is returning this year to Los Angeles  on June 11th with artists and designers such as Gary Baseman, Mark Ecko, Frank Kozik and Paul Frank   The show runs from the 11th to the 20th at 6812 Melrose Ave. If you are in the Los Angeles area this show is not to be missed. Certainly Star Wars fans will get a kick out of seeing the helmets.  On June 12th 20 of the participating artists will be signing catalogs. In addition Freeman's auction house is auctioning off the helmets on July 10th.

Super Punch Star Wars/Horror Art Contest Winner

We did an art contest with the amazing SuperPunch Blog. The contest's rules outlined that an orignal piece of artwork be created that depicts a mashup between the Horror genre and Star Wars. The winning entry is an original ink drawing by Jason from ManlyArt with his depction of a Tusken Raider ghost story.

This an old Tusken Raider telling a legend by the campfire about a demon with a fiery sword (Anakin) that beheaded an entire Tusken Raider settlement when he was a child.

Congrats to Jason on winning the $150 Gift Certificate and some killer toys from Tenacious Toys.

I have to say that the some of the other entries were great as well.

Top 10 Funniest Costumes of 2010

Each year we compile a list of the funniest costumes for the season. This year there's less offensive items and a return to humor.  Warning: There's still a few costumes here that may offend, but there's nothing here thats NSFW.

1) GingerBread Warrior Costume from Shrek

I am going with this as my favorite. Who's doesn't love this adorable guy in the Shrek movies? There's an adult and children's version of this costume.

2) Twister Costume

The old favorite board game is now a costume complete with the spinning wheel. There's a plus size and children's size available too, but this design has that chic mod look.

3) The Deluxe Green Army Men Costume from Toy Story

This costume licensed from Toy Story looks  just like the ones you (at least the guys) used to play with. Comes in adult and kid sizes. Add some green face paint and your ready to go.

4) Double Occupancy Costume

Let em know your occupied for at least for Halloween night. Don't plan on breaking out any dance moves in this costume.

5)  Tic Tac Toe Dress Costume - Women's Plus Size Humorous

Everyone knows the game of tic tac toe. This playful costume gives you somethig to do with a friend if your Halloween party is as stale last year's Halloween candy.

6) Operation Costume - Men's Humorous Costume

7) Smurf Costume

Yes the smurfs are back for 2010. There's a new movie coming out this year. There's a Pappa Smurf and Smurfette version available as well. What's funnier then some huge guy in a smurf costume?

8) Pokey Costume

Does anyone remember this guy? Its the licensed pokey costume from Gumby and Pokey fame.

9) Inflatable Doll Costume (Male or Female versions)

I suppose this costume needs no explanation.

10) Petting Zoo Costume

Saving the creepiest for last. Another costume that stretches the limits of good taste.

We want to know what sort of humourous costume idea you have. I am sure you can come up with some funnier costume ideas.

For other offensive and just plain hilarious costumes please check out our humourous costumes page.

Simple Costumes - Buzz Lightyear

Kids love to play dress up. My nephews recently transformed into Buzz Lightyear and were entertained for hours wearing white diaper boxes with holes cut out for their heads and the flaps extended as wings for their arms.
