Real Walker Robot for Kids

Imagine your kids getting ahold of one of these for Halloween. Created by the Sakakibara-kikai corp of Japan. This is a new smaller "kid friendly" version of the full-size landwalker robot the company developed . Pretty cool stuff from a company that usually produces feed sweepers. Check out the video below, you'll also get a peek at the larger version in the background.

A child can climb into the pilot seat and operate the machine by themselves  The robot includes some fail safe functionallity to limit the the walking motion to restrict it a shuffling motion rather then taking large steps.  The Kid's gas powered Walker is 5 1/4 feet tall and weighs around 400 lbs which is around half the size of the full size  Land Walker.  The controls are operated right from the seat. You can actually rent this thing apparently.  They are not selling them as of yet, but the company estimates that the unit woud cost around $21,000 U.S to produce.

The Return of the Darth Vader Project

Last year we tweeted about the Vader Project which gave artists a chance to re-imagine a full scale replica of Darth Vader's infamous black helmet. The show is returning this year to Los Angeles  on June 11th with artists and designers such as Gary Baseman, Mark Ecko, Frank Kozik and Paul Frank   The show runs from the 11th to the 20th at 6812 Melrose Ave. If you are in the Los Angeles area this show is not to be missed. Certainly Star Wars fans will get a kick out of seeing the helmets.  On June 12th 20 of the participating artists will be signing catalogs. In addition Freeman's auction house is auctioning off the helmets on July 10th.

Super Punch Star Wars/Horror Art Contest Winner

We did an art contest with the amazing SuperPunch Blog. The contest's rules outlined that an orignal piece of artwork be created that depicts a mashup between the Horror genre and Star Wars. The winning entry is an original ink drawing by Jason from ManlyArt with his depction of a Tusken Raider ghost story.

This an old Tusken Raider telling a legend by the campfire about a demon with a fiery sword (Anakin) that beheaded an entire Tusken Raider settlement when he was a child.

Congrats to Jason on winning the $150 Gift Certificate and some killer toys from Tenacious Toys.

I have to say that the some of the other entries were great as well.
